thermal dec. = decomposition using heat
example = > 2hgo---------> 2hg + o2
photo dec. = decomposition using light
example => 2pbo -------> 2pb + o2
elec. decomposition = decomposition using electricity
example => 2h20 -----> 2h2 + o2
example = > 2hgo---------> 2hg + o2
photo dec. = decomposition using light
example => 2pbo -------> 2pb + o2
elec. decomposition = decomposition using electricity
example => 2h20 -----> 2h2 + o2

Thermal decomposition is the process of breaking down a chemical compound into simpler substance by heating it. Electrolysis is the process of forcing a chemical reaction that wouldn't normally occur on its own to happen by passing an electric current through the reactants.
