There is really no category between thin and thick walled cylinders. Thin walled cylinders are generally considered to have a ratio of inside diameter to wall thickness greater than 10. Greater than this it’s thin wall - less it’s thick wall.

The distinction between thick and thin wall is made depending on how accurate your determination of stress must be

Answer:

In operation, in a thin wall pressure vessel, stresses developed in the (thin) wall can conservatively be assumed to be uniform. ... In contrast, a thick wall pressure vessel develops a greater (circumferential) stress on the inside surface of the vessel and it reduces towards the outside diameter.
