Both are reptiles belonging to order Testudines but are from different families.
Turtles- They live exclusively in water . They come on land to lay eggs. They have fins and webbed feet which help them to swim. Their body is streamlined. They abandon their young ones after the eggs hatch. They eat small animals like fishes and also eat aquatic plants.
Tortoise- They only live on land. They don't have fins. They don't have streamlined body . Their body is rough compared to that of turtle. They protect their young ones for 80- 90 days after they hatch their eggs. They mostly eat plants. They are herbivores.
I hope this helps you.
