Difference between toxic substance and hazardous substance.
Toxic substances are poisonous and therefore hazardous. The toxicity of a substance is the potential of that substance to cause harm. The hazard of a chemical will cause harm. A toxic substance can cause internal damage to tissues such as nerves or liver function. A hazardous substance can do external damage to tissues such as burning gasoline or acids.
