Transpiration is a process similar to evaporation. It is a part of the water cycle, and it is the loss of water vapour from
the parts of plants , especially in leaves but also in stems, âowers and roots. Leaf surfaces are dotted with openings which are collectively called stomata, and in most plants they are more numerous on the undersides of the foliage. The stoma are bordered by guard cells that open and close the pore. Leaf transpiration occurs through stomata, and can be thought of as a necessary "cost" associated with the opening of the stomata to allow the diffusion of carbon dioxide gas from the air for photosynthesis. Transpiration also cools plants, changes osmotic pressure of cells, and enables mass âow of mineral nutrients and water from roots to shoots.
Excretion is the process by which waste products of metabolism and other non-useful materials are eliminated from an organism. This is primarily carried out by the lungs, kidneys and skin. This is in contrast with secretion, where the substance may have speciác tasks after leaving the cell. Excretion is an essential process in all forms of life.

Following are the point to show the difference between transpiration and excretion :

  1. The constant evaporation of water from the leaves to form water vapour is known as transpiration And the Removal of waste in form of solid , liquid or gases from the body of an living organism is known as excretion.
  2. Transpiration only takes place in plants and trees while the excretion takes place in all living beings.
