Tropical -

- These are found close to the equator and extend till the tropics.

- The grass here is very tall, about 3m - 4m, but it is less nutritious.

- Eg. Savannah of South Africa, Campos of Brazil and Llanos of Venezuela.

Temperate -

- These are found in mid-latitudinal zones and inner part of continents.

- The grass here is short and nutritious.

- Eg. Veld of South Africa, Down of Australia and Prairie of North America.

Tropical cyclones form in regions with little horizontal temperature gradients, and have no weather fronts. Temperate cyclones form in regions of strong temperature gradients on the polar front and have weather fronts which mark the boundary between different air masses.
