The tropical region is a lot warmer than the temperate region. This is because the tropics receive the most amount of sunlight on the planet, whereas the temperate zones receive the sun's rays slanted at an angle.

The tropical zone experiences summer all year round (actually there are no seasons, it's just really hot), while the temperate zones experience four seasons.
