Let the smaller number = x
larger number = x+8

If 2 is added to bigger number, it will be 3 times smaller number
(x+8) + 2 = 3x
⇒ x+8+2 = 3x
⇒ x + 10 = 3x
⇒ 3x -x = 10
⇒ 2x = 10
⇒ x = 10/2
⇒ x = 5

Small Number is 5
large number is 5+8 =13

yasummu: but why did you take a long time to answer this?
TPS: i was busy....i wasn't here...sorry

Let the smaller no. Be x Then, the larger no. Will be x+8 by question , 3x=x+8+2 2x=10 x=5 Therefore smaller no is 5 and the larger no is 8+5=13
