so, x-y=30........(1)

now simply solve the equations

as x=30+y (put it in the (2) equation)

7(30+y)=2y

210+7y=2y

5y= -210

y= -210/5

y= -42

x-(-42)=30

x=30-42

x= -12

hence, x= -12 and y= -42.
