In non-verbal reasoning diagrams are used for expressing the ideas instead of using numbers and words whereas verbal reasoning is understanding and reasoning using concepts framed in words. It aims at evaluating ability to think constructively, rather than at simple fluency or vocabulary recognition.

difficult question to answer in a few words! Put simply, reasoning with words or language is 'verbal' and reasoning involving shapes and patterns is 'non-verbal'. To see the difference go to an example of a verbal reasoning paper and a non-verbal reasoning paper.  If you want to read about intelligence tests in detail (written from an American perspective) go to Indiana University's website. I hope it will help u!!!!!
