Eastern Coastal Plains                                    

  • Eastern Coastal Plain is divided into 2 stretches North and South.
  • The part which is in the South is known as Coromandel Coast and the Northern Stretch of Eastern Coastal Plains is known as Northern Circar.
  • Eastern Coastal Plain is in between the Bay of Bengal in the East and the Eastern Ghats to its West.
  • Wide Deltas are formed by large rivers on the Eastern Coastal Plains.

Western Coastal Plains

  • Western Coastal Plains are divided into 3 different sections.
  • The southern part is known as Malabar Coast, the Central part of the Western Coast is known as the Karavali or Kanara.

  • Western Coastal Plain is between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats.
  • No Deltas are formed in Western Coastal plains, by small rivers.
  • Except for the Southern Part i.e. Malabar Coast, the Western Coastal Plain is infertile for agricultural purposes.
  • Western Coastal Plains are very narrow.
