xylem:

# consists of tracheids, vessels, xylem parenchyma.

# transports water from roots to all the parts of plant.

# transports water in only one direction( upwards)

phloem:

# consists of sieve tubes, companion cells and phloem parenchyma.

# transports soluble products of photosynthesis to all the parts.

# transports food in both upward and downward direction.
