heya !!!

》》WHAT IS XYLEM AND PHLOEM :

◇Both xylem and phloem carry substances from one part of the plant body to another .

◇ Xylem transports WATER AND MINERALS obtained from the soil. The Phloem (vascular tissue ) transports products of photosynthesis from leaves to other parts of plants.

》》WHY PLANTS USE THIS SYSTEM OF TRANSPORTATION :

Plants have low energy requirements as they do not perform physical movements . Plants can thus work with slow transport systems .

》》DIFFERENCE BETWEEN XYLEM AND PHLOEM :

■XYLEM

☆Have dead long and hollow vessels .

☆Have lignified cell wall thickenings .

☆Prevents vessels from collapsing .

☆Movement of water is in upward direction from soil to leaves .

☆Provides cell wall thickening .

■PHLOEM

☆Have living thin tubes placed end to end .

☆Ends are connected to each other by sieve plates .

☆Sieve tubes is filled with cytoplasm and sieve plates allow cytoplasm to pass .

☆Companion cells contain nuclei and Controls activities of the sieve tubes.

☆Can transport substance in the soluble form in all directions to all parts of the plants.

hope it helps u dear ^_^

Xylem and phloem are type of complex tissues.

Xylem cells have thick walls, and many of them are dead cells.Xylem transports water.
Phloem is made up of four types of elements.: sieve tubes companion cells, phloem fibre and phloem parancyma.
Phloem transports food from leaves to other.
