Xylem

Have dead long and hollow vessels.

Have lignified cell wall thickenings.

Provides cell wall thickenings

Prevents vessels from collapsing.

MOVEMENT of water is in upward direction from soil to leaves.

Have living thin tubes placed end to end.

Ends are connected to each other by seive plates.

Sieve tube is filled with cytoplasm

Companion cells contain neucli.

control activities of the seive tubes.

Can transport substances in the soluble from in all directions to all parts of the plant.

Difference between Xylem and phloem,
Xylem transports the water in other parts of plants while phloem transports food to different parts of the plants.
Xylem has the lignin into walls while phloem don't have lignin into walls.
