There is much difference between earthquake and volcano.

When tectonic plates slides over each other, then a large landmass starts vibrating and produce seismic waves, and cause very much loss of human's life and property, makes the building to fall off,somewhere, the ground abrupts.

This natural disaster is called earthquake.

When there is much more amount of lava below a mountain ,the lava tends to come outside from its opening and produces poisonous gases, spreads molten lava and erupts like an big explosion.

It affects air services and many others.

Such natural disaster is known as volcanic eruption.
