Answer:

Difference between Compression and Rarefaction.

Explanation:

A compression is a region in a longitudinal wave where the particles are closest together.Compression happens when molecules are forced, or pressed, together. This is an example of compression, When a pile of material is squished together and made smaller and more dense.

A rarefaction is a region in a longitudinal wave where the particles are furthest apart.

Rarefaction is just in  the opposite way , it occurs when molecules are given extra space and are allowed to expand. As the molecules are pressed together, they pass the kinetic energy to each other.  sound energy travels outward from the source. An example of rarefaction can also as a phase in a sound wave or phonon.  the Half of a sound wave is made of the compression of the medium, and the other half is the decompression or rarefaction of a medium
