Difference in physical properties of ethanol and ethanoic acid

Ans:

ETHANOL-

Melting point is 156K and boiling point is 351K.

It has sweet odour.

It has -OH ( Alcohol ) As functional group.

It does not reacts with litmus paper

It does not reacts with Sodium hydrogen carnonate.

ETHANOIC ACID

It has melting point 290K and boiling point 391 K

It has pungent Odour

It has -OOH (Carboxylic acid ) as functional group.

It changes blue litmus paper to red

It reacts with sodium hydrogen carbonate to release CO2 gas
