Mushrooms are fungi, and are usually placed in a Kingdom of their own apart from plantsand animals. Mushrooms contain no chlorophyll and most are considered saprophytes. That is, they obtain their nutrition from metabolizing non living organic matter.this is how mushrooms are different from green plants......

Mushroom belongs to Kingdom Fungi whereas Green plants belongs to kingdom Plantae.
Mode of nutrition is different for both.
Mode of reproduction differs too.
