putting the value of x in eqn (I)

x-y = 24

756/y - y=24

756-y²=24y

y²+24y-756=0

y²+(42-18)y -756=0

y²+42y-18y -756=0

y(y+42)-18(y +42)=0

(y+42)(y-18)=0

now

y-18=0. y+42=0

y=18. y= -42

putting the value of y in eqn (iI)

x=756/y.

x=756/18

x=42

x=756/y

x=756/-42

x= -18

x= 42, -18

y=18, -42
