Difference of lcm and hcf of two numbers is 8 sum of their lcm and hcf is 24

Let the L.C.M  be x

Let the H.C.F be y

x + y = 24

x - y = 8 [ L.C.M is always greater than or equal to H.C.F ]

Subtracting both we get :

2 y = 16

==> y = 16/2

==> y = 8

x + y = 24

==> x + 8 = 24

==> x = 24 - 8

==> x = 16

L.C.M = 16

H.C.F = 8
