Wrong ans
age of 1st = x
2nd bro age = y
x-y=2 ......eq(1)
(x)^2 - (y)^2 = 16
(x-2) (x+2) = 16
where
(x-2) = 2
so
x+y = 8
x = 8-y
putting value of x in eq(1)
8 - y - y = 2
-2y = 2 - 8
-2y = -6
y = 3 Ans

Heya !!
Let the ages of two brothers be X years and Y years.
According to question,
X - Y = 2 -------equation (1)
And,
( X )² - ( Y )² = 16 ----------equation (2)
From equation (1) we get,
X - Y = 2
X = ( 2 + Y ) ----------equation (3)
Putting the value of X in equation (2)
( X )²- ( Y )² = 16
( 2 + Y )² - ( Y )² = 16
(Y)² + (2)² + 2 × 2 × Y - Y² = 16
y² - y² + 4 + 4Y = 16
4Y + 4= 16
4 ( Y + 1 ) = 12
Y + 1 = 3
y = 2
Putting the value of y in equation (3)
X = ( 2 + y ) = ( 2 + 2 ) = 4 years.
Hence,
Age of younger brother is 2 years.
