(i) In France, the monarch alone could not increase the taxes so louis XVI called the meeting of estate general to impose new taxes in 1789. (ii) In estate General all the three estates had to send their representatives but they were given unequal rights. (iii) This time THe third estate demanded for one person one vote, instead of having one estate one vote. They walked out from the assembly and declared themselves as NAtional Assembly and took an oath that they would not be dispersed until they drafted a constitution for France. (iv) When the National Assembly was busy in making constitution, the rest of France seethed with turmoil. There was a shortage of food due to severe winter which increased the prices of bread and hoarding led dissatisfaction. (v) At the same time, the king ordered the troops to move in the city of Paris. On 14th July the agitated crowed attacked Bastille and the revolution was started.
