HEY DEAR ...
As a European (yes, I proudly identify as European!), let me begin by saying that nationalism in a developing country is completely different from nationalism in a developed one. That’s why instead of India v/s E.U, I'll generalize this for developing (to be abbreviated as “ing") vs developed (to be abbreviated as “ed”) country's nationalism.
ing: Encourages its people to stay back in their home nation and develop it
ed: Opposes foreign citizens from entering it's nation
ing: Tries to play a bigger international role by contributing as many resources as it can for world development (Ethiopia contributes highest number of peacekeepers to the U.N while India is among top 5 financial contributors to the U.N)
ed: Tries to cut down on foreign aid as much as possible (U.S withdrawing from Paris accord)
ing: Encourages closer inter-national cooperation on most issues (e.g. SAARC and BRICS)
ed: Encourages withdrawal from international cooperation initiatives (Yeah, I'm looking at you Britain. Really? Brexit?)
ing: Encourages sacrifices today for a better future (China built the largest solar plant and is currently closing down record numbers of coal plants to curb pollution)
ed: The comfort of the present is more important than the future (Trump and his obsession lift regulations on coal)
Last but not the least,
ing: Built on pride of one's culture and history
ed: Built on the concepts of racial and ethnic superiority
