Difference Between Antibiotic and Antiseptic. Both, antibiotics and antiseptics, are chemical substances that prevent the growth and development of the microorganisms, but antibiotics are effective only against bacteria while antiseptic acts against a wide range of microorganisms.

hope it helps!!!

ujjal9: I want the difference in tabular form
Shreya2002: we cant tabulate it here
Shreya2002: u write in that form
ujjal9: then give separately
Shreya2002: As mentioned above, antibiotics are chemical substances that kill and stop the growth of bacteria. They act by interfering with the cell wall synthesis and nucleic acid metabolism, and by inhibiting protein synthesis.(this is forantibiotic)
Shreya2002: Antiseptic prevents the growth and development of the microorganisms without necessarily killing them. They can be topical agents that are used to apply the skin, mucus membranes and intimate objects or can be internally used agents such as urinary tract antiseptics.(this is for antiseptic)

1.One of the main differences between antiseptics and antibiotics is how they work against bacteria and other microorganisms.

2.antiseptics weaken and slow the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms, which in turn helps to prevent the bacteria from causing further infection. Antibiotics, are responsible for killing bacteria as well as some types of
fungi and parasites.

3. Another important difference to note between antiseptics and antibiotics is that bacteria are likely to develop immunity to certain antibiotics after an extended use. It has not been confirmed that bacteria have the same reaction with extended antiseptic use. To prevent immunity to the antibiotics, a healthcare professional may recommend fully completing the antibiotic therapy which treats a multitude of either Gram-positive and/or Gram-negative bacteriato ensure all bacteria have been killed off or using different antibiotics for certain illnesses.......
