Lenses have two focal points, one on either side of the lens. A concave mirror converges light to a focal point. For lenses, light converges to a point for a convex lens. A convex mirror diverges light, as does a concave lens.

A curved mirror is a mirror with a curved reflecting surface. The surface may be either convex or concave. Most curved mirrors have surfaces that are shaped like part of a sphere, but other shapes are sometimes used in optical devices.
A convex lens is a converging lens. When parallel rays of light pass through a convex lens the refracted rays converge at one point called the principal focus. The distance between the principal focus and the centre of the lens is called the focal length.
