1.distance is actual path travel by an object whereas displacement is the shortest path covered by an object.
2. distance can not be negative whereas displacement can be negative.

DISTANCE:- actual length of path covered by body.

it is a scalar quantity.

distance = speed X time

DISPLACEMENT:-shortest length between two points.

it is a vector quantity.

displacement = velocity X time
