The easiest way to tell them apart is that a magnet can repel and attract another magnet. Whereas, a piece of magnetic material can only attract a magnet! Magnetic materials do not have fields around them, but they are affected by near by magnetic fields.

Magnetic substances are substances which are under influence of magnet.

2) A magnet has two poles directed one towards the north direction and another towards the south direction.

Magnetic substances doesn't have any poles and doesn't point towards any of the particular direction.

3)Magnet poles are attracted with opposite poles and repels with the similar poles.

Magnetic substances are attracted towards the both pole of magnet.
