Male gametophyte :

1. Derived from the pollen grains

2. Originates inside the microsporangium

3. It contains three cells and all the cells are functional

4. It has two phases of growth

5. Disintegrates after fertilization

Female gametophyte:

1. Derived from the mega spores

2. It also originates inside the microsporangium

3. It has eight cells but only two cells are functional

4. It has a single phase of growth

5. Produce new structure after fertilization.
