The major difference between bryophytes and vascular plants is the lack of specialized structures to carry water and nutrients in bryophytes. ... Every plant alternates between what is known as a gametophyte stage, with only one set of chromosomes, and a sporophyte stage, with two matched sets of chromosomes.

Hello Buddy!!

Vascular plants which includes pteridophytes, gymnosperms and angiosperms contain vascular tissues like xylem and phloem while bryophytes are devoid of vascular tissues.

The body of vascular plants are differentiated into true roots, leaves and stems while the body of bryophytes are thalloid i.e. not distinguished into true roots, leaves and stems.

Sporophytic phase is dominant in life cycle of vascular plants while gametophytic phase is dominant in life cycle of bryophytes.

In vascular plants, sporophytic phase is independent of gametophytic phase while in bryophytes sporophytic phase is always dependent on the gametophytic phase.
