Diffusion 
*It is a spontaneous movement of substances from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration.
*It occurs in any medium.
*Semi permeable memberane is not required.

Osmosis
*It is a movement of water molecules from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration through semi-permeable memberane.
*Osmosis occurs only in liquid medium.
*Semi permeable memberane is required.
