Kinetic Energies - Energy which is present due to the virtue of motion.
Potential Energies - Energy which is present due to virtue of rest.
Potential Energy is due to Kinetic energy in some cases and vice versa .... take a pen lift it up to a point and stop hold it then you will observe that while lifting it's in motion then it's KINETIC ENERGY and when it's stopped at a height then the KINETIC ENERGY is Converted to POTENTIAL ENERGY so only when we hold it up in our hand it does not come down even after the influence of Gravity this means that total Energy is conserved.....Thank you

Potential energy can be defined as stored energy but kinetic energy can be define as energy which is currently using and was stored in the form of potential energy
