Differences between single tasking and multitasking operating system

Executing only one job at a time is called single tasking.

Executing several jobs at a time is called multi tasking.

In single tasking, the processor time is wasted,

but in multi tasking, we can utilize the processor time in an optimum way.

The single-tasking operating system is the one that only has one task to focus till it ends.

Then it moves to another task. Whereas in the multitasking operating system, there are different tasks performed at once in the system.

For instance, smartphones, we can send an email and can check the messages at the same time.
