Answer: State function are defined by comparing them to path functions.As stated before,a state function is a property whose values does not depend on the path taken to reach that specific function or value.Path functions are functions that depend on the path taken to reach that specific value.
The state function and path functions are two ways of expressing different thermodynamics properties of system.The key difference between state function and path functions is that state functions don't depend on the path process whereas path function depend on path or process.Therefore state function and path function are opposite of each other.
