Conservative force: If the work done by a force depends on the initial and final position of body and not on the path followed by it, it is known as conservative force.

Eg: gravitational force, electrostatic force between two stationary object.

Non- conservative force: If work done by a force depends upon the path between the position, it is known as non-conservative force.

Eg: frictional force

Distinguish between conservative and non-conservative force. A force is said to be conservative if the work done by or against force is dependent only on the initial and the final position of the body and not on the path followed by the body. ... Eg: friction, viscous force, induction force in cyclotron, et

Conservative and Non-Conservative Forces. ... Examples: the force of gravity and the spring force are conservative forces. For a non-conservative (or dissipative) force, the work done in going from A to B depends on the path taken. Examples: friction and air resistance.

the difference between conservative and nonconservative forces. The work a conservative force does on an object is path-independent; the actual path taken by the object makes no difference. ... That's differentfrom the force of friction, which dissipates kinetic energy as heat.
