The Himadri (greater Himalayas)
It is the most continous range. The northern most ranges is called Himadri.
It consists of loftiest peak with an average heights of 6000 m. It contain all the prominent peaks. It remains snow covered throughout the year resulting into the formation of glacier and some perennial river.

HIMACHAL (lesser Himalayas)

It lies south of Himadri ans form the most rugged mountain system.
The ranges are mainly composed of highly compressed 4500 m. Some famous ranges are the pir panjal range, Dhaula dhar and Mahabharat range.
It has some famous Valley like Kullu, kangra, and kashmir. They are known as for their Hill station. The average width Is 50 km


Shiwalik (outer Himalayas)

This is the outer most range of Himalayas. It height varies from 900and 1100m.the ranges are composed of unconsolidated rock veteran. These ranges are prone to earthquake. The longitudinal Valley lying between lesser Himalayan and Shiwalik are duns.
