haploid means one pair of chromosomes and diploid means double pair of chromosomes

In haploid cell the number of chromosomes present is half than normal i.e.in place of 2n chromosomes n number of chromosomes are present.
In diploid cell the chromosome number remains intact i.e. 2n chromosomes
