Answer:

1) metals are elements which form positive ions (cations) by losive electrons.

whereas nonmetals are elements which form negative ions(anions) by gaining electrons.

2) metals are ductile.but nonmetals are non ductile.

3) metals are malleable whereas nonmetals are non malleable.

4) metals are lustrous . nonmetals are brittle.

5) metals are sonorous whereas nonmetals are non sonorous.

6) metals are good conductor of heat and electricity. nonmetals are bad conductor of heat and electricity except graphite and diamond.

7) metals are generally hard and strong except potassium ans sodium. nonmetals are soft and brittle except diamond.

Hey, Here is your answer!!

1. Metals are malleable that is they can be beaten into thin sheets.

whereas Non-Metals are non malleable. They are brittle. They can't be beaten into thin sheets.

2. Metals are ductile that is they can be drawn into thin wires.

whereas Non metals are non ductile ie.they can't be drawn into thin wires.

3. Metals are good conductor of heat and electricity.Metals contains electricity because they contain free electrons.

whereas Non metals are bad conductor of heat and electricity except diamond which is a good conductor of heat and graphite which is a good conductor of electricity.

4. Metals are lustrous (shiny) and they can be polished.

whereas Non metals are non lustrous. They have dull appearance except iodine which is shiny.

5. Metals are strong that is they have tensile strength.

whereas Non metals are not strong.

6. Metals are sonorous that is they produce sound on beating.

whereas Non metals are non sonorous that is they don't produce sound on beating.

7. Metals are solid at room temperature

except mercury which is liquid.

whereas Non metals may be solid, liquid or gases at room temperature. Bromin is the only liquid non metal. Oxygen, Nitrogen and chlorine are acids. Carbon sulphur and phosphorus are solids.

8. Metals are hard except sodium and potassium which are so soft and can be cut by a knife.

whereas Non metals are generally soft except diamond which is the hardest known substance.

9. Metals usually have silver or grey colour except gold which is yellow and copper which is reddish brown.

whereas Non metals have different colours.

10. Metals have high densities except sodium and potassium which have low densities.

whereas Non metals have low densities except iodine which has high density.

Hope it helps u!!
