different between addition reaction and substitution reaction

in addition reaction the process of converting unsaturated compound into saturated one. ex CH2 double bond CH 2 + H2 gives out CH3 single bond CH3 in presence of nickel. but in substitution reaction the atom or group get substituted by more reactive atom or group.
