Lenses have two focal points, one on either side of the lens. A concave mirror converges light to a focal point. For lenses, light converges to a point for a convex lens. A convex mirror diverges light, as does a concave lens.

• Concave lens are know as diverging lens. The nature and the position of the image formed doesn't depends upon the distance of the object as it always forms a virtual, erect and diminished image. Also the image always appers to be located between optical center and 'F' point of the lens on same side.
• Convex lens are know as converging lens. It forms image of different size, nature and at different poison, for objects kept at different distance from its optical center.
