Distance
1.It is the total length covered by a moving object.
2.It is always +ve.
3.It is a scalar quantity.
4.It can't be zero.

Displacement
1.It is the shortest length covered by a moving object.
2.It may be -ve, +ve.
3.It is a vector quantity.
4.It can be zero.

1. Distance covered by an object = sum of length of all the path covered.
Displacement of an object = difference between the initial point to the final point.

2. the value of distance can never be in negative. 
The value of displacement can be positive or negative.

3. Distance = it can happen in any direction 
Displacement = it always happens in the specific direction 

4.  Distance = it can either be equal to the value of displacement or greater than it.
Displacement = it is always less than the distance covered by an object.
