A fold is a bend in the rock strata. Folding is a type of earth movement resulting from the horizontal compression of rock layers by internal forces of the earth along plate boundaries. A unfold are termed as anticlines. The downfolds are termed synclines. While, A fault is a fracture in rock where there has been movement and displacement. When talking about earthquakes benig along fault lines, a fault lies at the major boundaries between Earth's tectonic plates, in the crust, and the earthquakes result from the plates' movement.
