Well, the difference is quite obvious and is perceived by anyone unconsciously – you drink beverages and you eat food. However, some products can be used to prepare both food and beverage. Let's take fresh juices as an example.
But the thing is that in terms of hospitality these two things are intermingled and always go together. There's a whole science that studies who to pair specific foods with drinks, either soft or alcoholic.
So in what aspects do food and beverage they differ?
- obviously, preparation and its administration
- service
- storage
- staff that is involved in the production and service
- studies (I study for a hospitality degree in Chicago, and food and beverage operations are completely different disciplines)
Besides, mostly those who cook food don't serve it or even communicate with guests, whereas bartenders are often those who serve drinks to the guests.
