Answer:

Manures:

*Manures are organic substances obtained from dead plants and animal wastes.

*Green manure such as rye grass, fenugreek  are cultivated specifically to plough into the soil. *This improves the fertility of the soil.

*Animal manure consists of animal wastes. Compost is a manure obtained by the decomposition

of dead plants and animal waste. It is rich in organic nutrients  but not in some important nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium.

Fertilizers:

*Fertilizers are human-made chemical substances that contain one or more nutrients essential for

*Plant growth. Mostly used ones are  NPK fertilizers rich in nitrogen (N), phosphorous(P) and

 potassium(K) salts.

*These are easy to store and handle, soluble in water. Hence can be directly absorbed by the

plants and greatly increase crop yields.

*If over used, fertilizers harm the soil by making it porous. Excess fertilizers  get washed into

water bodies and harm aquatic animals.

*Farmers normally use  a combination of manures and fertilizers.
