mechanical waves are waves which need a medium to travel
eg: Sound waves
electromagnetic waves are waves which can travel in vaccum and do not need any medium to travel
eg: light waves

ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES ARE WAVES THAT HAVE NO MEDIUM TO TRAVEL WHERE AS MECHANICAL WAVES NEED A MEDIUM FOR ITS TRANSMISSION
