Digestion is the process of breaking down of large food molecules into simpler nutrients like glucose, amino acids and fatty acids.

Respiration(biochemical definition) is the metabolic process in which the glucose along with oxygen is used to produce energy by various enzyme catalysed biochemical reactions. In general sense, respiration is the production of energy from this simpler nutrients(fatty acid or glucose).

irfan9871: Digestion is the breakdown of absorbed substances, Respiration, on the other hand, is the breakdown of food molecules with a release of energy.
