Good morning!! lift valley is formed by tectonic forces pulling the land apart. These have a squared off U shape, and can sometimes be deepened by erosion.
A river valley is a valley formed by water flowing through a low spot relative to the surrounding surface. Water seeks sea level and will always move downhill. These are typically formed in the crevices between mountains, and always have a V shape.
A vale is any valley with water flowing in it, regardless of how it was formed.
A canyon is where a river cuts into bedrock and forms cliffs on either side of the river.
