The stratosphere lies above the troposphere. Its estimated height is about 50 km above the mean sea level.

Clouds are almost absent and there is very little dust or water vapor.

Jet planes fly at this atmosphere.

The lower part of the stratosphere has concentration of ozone and is thus called ozonosphere.

Mesosphere

The mesosphere lies above the stratosphere. And is 50 to 80 km above sea level.

Temperatures decrease upto 100 degrees Celsius and height of 80 km.

It is the coldest layer.

This layer protect the earth from meteoroids
