Uni cropping or Mono cropping:-

Mono cropping is a agriculture practice of growing a single crop year after year on the same land. Mono cropping allows farmer to have consistent crop throughout their entire farm. They can use same seeds, pest control, Machinery and growing method on their farm.

While Economically very efficient system, but it damages soil ecology. The result is more fragile with an increased dependency on pesticides and artificial fertilizer.

A difficulty with mono cropping is that the solution one problem may result in other problems. A well known concern is pesticides and fertilizers seeping into surrounding soil and groundwater from extensive mono cropped.

Soil depletion is also a negative effect of mono cropping.

Dual or Multi-cropping:

Multi-cropping is the practice of growing two or more crops on the same land in same growing season  One example of multi-cropping is tomatoes + onions + marigold; the marigolds repel some tomato pests.

Multi-cropping requires irrigation, especially in areas with a dry season.

Improve Stability of food and feed supply throughout the year.

Improve Distribution of Income throughout the year.

Minimize the scope of soil depletion.

Maximize the possible use of land.

Minimize the rental value, irrigation charge and other cost per unit of production.

Improve the nutrition for the farm family from crop diversification.
