Answer:

The US republic consists of two houses Congress and Senate, and institution of President where congress is elected every Four years along with President and Senate reelects 33% of seats every two years.

The president is elected both directly and indirectly, the entire electorate votes directly for President but the states are assigned Electoral seats which forms an electoral college which elects the president.

Now in most of the states winner in states voting gets all the electoral votes of the state are assigned constitutionally this leads to an anomaly where winner of popular votes does not get elected as president but a person which wins most electoral votes gets elected as president.
