HERE IS YOUR ANSWER MATE:-

Four compression methods are used in satellites using wavelet domain i.e CCSDS, wavelet,Bandelet and JPEG 2000. some optical satellites were used as input data simulation software which analysed and compared four compression methods in the wavelet domain.

  • 1.▪︎Lossless compression,
  • 2.▪︎Near-lossless compression,
  • 3.▪︎Lossy compression.

❥︎▪︎Lossless compression is a class of data compression algorithms that allows the original data to be perfectly reconstructed from the compressed data. By contrast, lossy compression permits reconstruction only of an approximation of the original data, though usually with greatly improved compression rates.

❥︎▪︎The definition of near-lossless compression, first established in the field of medical imaging [3], assumes that the peak of absolute error (PAE) between the original and the reconstructed image should be user-defined.

Lᴏssʏ Cᴏᴍᴘʀᴇssɪᴏɴ

❥︎▪︎Lossy compression is a method of data compression in which the size of the file is reduced by eliminating data in the file. In doing so, image quality is sacrificed to decrease file size. Any data that the compression algorithm deems expendable is removed from the image, thereby reducing its size.
